New coffee shop keeps eye on giving

Moultrie News  June 18, 2025

An Isle of Palms resident's passion for giving back and building community has lead her to dive into unchartered territory by opening Just Love Coffee in Mount Pleasant.

Located at 1909 N. Hwy. 17, the franchise outpost held a June 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring local elected officials and Chamber of Commerce reps about a month after the official grand opening.

Owner Kathryn Ives, husband Gray and their two children greeted guests with a warm welcome to the new locale that has created 13 new jobs and elicited rave reviews along the way.

The coffee selection at the sit-down venue includes a wide assortment of caffeinated — and decaffeinated — drinks, including medium roast, dark roast and flavored varieties, as well as lattes and cappuccinos.

The new shop is more than just coffee, reminded Kathryn, as customers can feast on full breakfast and full lunch menus all day long. Among the popular food choices are: breakfast sandwiches, muffins, burritos, wraps, chicken salad and avocado toast.

"This is a place where people in the community can come hang out with their friends. It's the place to be," said Kathyrn.

The decision to affiliate with Just Love Coffee was a natural fit that saw Kathryn and Gray's spirit for donating to local charities align with the franchise's goal of supporting adoptive kids and their families.

The new business owners' "it takes a village" mindset, according to Gray, led them to partner with East Cooper Meals on Wheels, with proceeds going toward feeding the elderly and infirm.

"It would be genuine; it would be excellent; it would be a catalyst to love. And we thought it would fit in Mount Pleasant, so here we are," shared Kathryn.
