Speaker Bio
Judge Irv Condon is Probate Judge for Charleston County, having previously worked for the late Morris D. Rosen, Esquire. Judge Condon attended the College of Charleston and received an accounting degree, magna cum laude, from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina. Judge Condon is a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Price Waterhouse for three years before going to law school.
Judge Condon is past President of the National College of Probate Judges, the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges, the National Guardianship Association, and the Congress of State Associations of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. Judge Condon is currently President of the South Carolina Association of Drug Court Professionals and the James Hoban Society. James Hoban was the architect of our historic courthouse and the White House.
Judge Condon started and presides over the Charleston County Adult Drug Court since its inception in 1999. Judge Condon led the planning team and started the Charleston County Mental Health Court which started in January 2003. Starting in 2010 Judge Condon also presides over the Ninth Circuit Juvenile Drug Court. Judge Condon has implemented a Veterans Treatment Court.
In 2013 Judge Condon and the Charleston County Probate Court were one of two courts in the nation to be selected by the American Bar Association to pilot an assistance and monitoring program for seniors with students from the Charleston School of Law.
In 2018 Judge Condon and the Charleston County Probate Court were one of two courts in the nation to be selected by the National Center of State Courts to pilot the rapid response conservator program and its cutting edge software to monitor conservators on a transaction basis along with the annual accountings.
Judge Condon is the seventh child of ten children of the late Harriet Molony Condon (a school principal) and the late J. Joseph Condon (past President of Condon’s Department Store). Judge Condon is married to attorney Michelle Mensore Condon originally from New Martinsville, West Virginia and they have one teenage son, Joseph.
