HCA Healthcare Long Point ER Scheduled To Open June 2026
Floor Signing Event Marks Construction Milestone
CHARLESTON, SC, March 6, 2026 – Members of the Mount Pleasant Town Council and the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce joined executives, physicians and nurses from HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital for a special floor signing event at HCA Healthcare Long Point ER, which is scheduled to open June 2026. The freestanding ER is located next to the Chick-fil-A and across the street from Belle Hall Shopping Center on Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant.
After he and other guests signed their names on the floor, Councilman Daniel Brownstein said, ““I think having this facility on Long Point Road really serves a need for the town. There are not a lot of medical facilities in this area. So, it’s right around the corner from where people live. We all know in the case of a heart attack, stroke, or serious injury minutes and seconds count. So, the quicker somebody can get from their home into an emergency room with qualified physicians and nurses the better the outcome’s going to be for that person.
Dr. Scott Hayes, an emergency medicine physician with HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital, added, “Whether it’s a heart attack, stroke, severe injury, or sudden illness, having a fully equipped emergency room nearby can make all the difference.” Long Point ER, and all of HCA Healthcare’s hospital-based ERs and freestanding ERs, are led by physicians board certified in emergency medicine.
Dr. Neal Shelley, also board-certified in emergency medicine, emphasized the urgency of diagnosing heart attacks and strokes. “With a heart attack, restoring blood flow quickly can prevent permanent heart muscle damage. With a stroke, rapid diagnosis and treatment can dramatically reduce the risk of lifelong disability. In both cases, minutes truly matter.”
At the event, Council member Mike Tinkey said, “When people are looking for places where they can live, work and play they are looking for great infrastructure, great schools and great healthcare. And, having a place that’s right around the corner from them means all of the difference into their safety and their livelihood.”
