Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette speaks at Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce luncheon
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — South Carolina gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Governor Pamela Evette was in the Lowcountry Thursday to speak at the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce's bi-monthly luncheon.
She discussed her background as a business leader as CEO of Quality Business Solutions, Inc. as well as her record of public service.
Evette is in the running to become the Palmetto State's next governor alongside GOP candidates like U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, Attorney General Alan Wilson, Upstate U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, and state Sen. Josh Kimbrell.
Charleston-area attorney William Mullins McLeod Jr.'s is the only Democrat so far to throw their hat in the ring to replace Gov. Henry McMaster.
Days after dashcam video began circulating of McLeod's arrest in the spring that showed him screaming incoherently, disparaging perceived adversaries and touting his soon-to-be public political aspirations, McLeod said he is staying in the race.
On Tuesday, Evette kicked off her Keep SC Great Tour with an initial series of grassroots visits in the Pee Dee region.
South Carolina's lieutenant governor plans to make a pit stop in Charleston on Saturday, Aug. 23, where she will visit the Charleston County GOP Great American Picnic.
