Chamber recognizes first responders during Police Memorial Week
Charleston Regional Business Journal May 17, 2024
The Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce was honored to recognize Officer Cody Burns of the Charleston Police Department and Sergeant Dan Eckert of the Mount Pleasant Police Department for their outstanding collaboration during Police Memorial Week last week.
During a recent traffic stop, Officer Burns apprehended a suspect in possession of a stolen check. Recognizing the check might be linked to a local business, Burns contacted Sergeant Eckert. Eckert’s familiarity with the Mount Pleasant business community and his established relationship with the Chamber allowed him to quickly verify the check was stolen from the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to this swift collaboration, the suspect was apprehended and arrested within minutes.
Burns’ and Eckert’s vigilance and teamwork exemplify the dedication our first responders have to keeping our communities safe.
“We are incredibly grateful for the combined efforts of Officer Burns and Sergeant Eckert,” said Eddie Phipps, Past President and General Counsel of the Mount Pleasant Chamber. “Their swift action demonstrates the strong partnership between our police departments and business community.”
Both Charleston Police Deputy Chief Thompson and Mount Pleasant Police Chief Arnold commended the officers for their collaboration, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation.
The Mount Pleasant Chamber is proud to sponsor this monthly First Responder Recognition Award, with thanks to Pinnacle Financial Partners for their ongoing support. Special thanks to Nothing Bundt Cakes for donating the celebratory cake each month.
