MPCC Monthly Luncheon: Irv Batten, Executive Race Director of the Charleston Bridge Run

Irv Batten has been the Executive Race Director of the Cooper River Bridge Run since 2019 and served as Deputy Race Director the four years prior. He is responsible for managing and directing the third largest 10K road race in the United States (capped at 40,000 participants). His passion has always been running, landing him a scholarship to Baptist College (now Charleston Southern University). Irv began his career as an elementary and middle school teacher for 20 years, while also coaching high school track and cross country. He then owned and operated a running specialty store in Mt. Pleasant until he becoming Deputy Race Director of the Cooper River Bridge Run in 2015.
