Please join us for our Aging Services Network. This is a great opportunity for working professionals and business owners in the Senior and Estate Planning industry to meet and network with like-minded individuals. This is a time for anyone who is in a business assisting the aging population or caregivers to come together for meaningful networking.

Topic: Pharmacogenomics (PGx): Personalizing Medication Therapy Through Genetics

Pharmacogenomics examines how a person’s genetic differences can influence their response to certain medications. This presentation will discuss how PGx testing can help identify potential differences in medication effectiveness, metabolism, and risk for side effects. Particular attention will be given to its potential value for older adults taking multiple medications and how PGx information can support safer, more personalized medication decisions.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Jessica Jones is a clinical pharmacist and pharmacogenomics specialist with extensive experience in medication therapy management and personalized medicine.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Clemson University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the Medical University of South Carolina. In 2009, Dr. Jones completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is also a Board Certified Medication Therapy Management Specialist and holds certifications in Pharmacogenomics and Nutrigenomics.

As Founder and CEO of Genetic Wellness, LLC, Dr. Jones focuses on using pharmacogenomics (PGx) to help patients and healthcare professionals better understand how genetic differences may influence medication response. PGx testing can provide valuable information about how certain medications may be metabolized, their potential effectiveness, and an individual’s risk for certain medication-related side effects.

Dr. Jones is passionate about making pharmacogenomics practical and understandable, particularly for older adults who may be taking multiple medications. Her goal is to help reduce trial-and-error prescribing and support safer, more informed, and more personalized medication decisions.
