Charleston Disability Pride: Local Organizations Partner to celebrate Disability Pride Month
Empowerment Through Employment 3rd Annual Celebration

Be the Change Charleston is partnering with Disability Pride SC, HEART Inclusive Arts community, and Beyond Distilling to host their 3rd annual inclusive and accessible event to the community on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 to celebrate the success of their 22 participants and all disabled community members for disability pride month in their inaugural Empowerment Through Employment (ETE) program Celebration.
The Empowerment Through Employment (ETE) Celebration will be held from 11 am - 3 pm at Beyond Distilling, located in North Charleston at 2157 Rich Street, and will feature live music, food trucks, delicious coffee, handcrafted cocktails, and 20+ local makers and vendors. This inclusive event will also include free sensory items, a sensory chill zone, jump castles, free Peachy Palette face painting, and Events Good Clean Fun Bubble Therapy.
ETE is an affirming and highly individualized program that empowers individuals with disabilities by supporting them with their self-identified goals in job readiness, employment skills, and life skills.
All funds raised during this event will go towards the ETE program to ensure that disabled individuals have access to empowering and high quality support. ETE Celebration's goal is to raise $10,000 to help ensure their programs can continue for the remainder of 2025.

Be the Change Charleston (BTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through community connection & employment opportunities founded in 2019 by 2 Special Education teachers, Shaina Bermudez and Halie Tumblesotn. BTC works with individuals with disabilities, their families, and our communities through their Empowerment through Employment Program & Community Connection Initiative. One of their ultimate goals is to create opportunities for positive interaction between disabled & nondisabled individuals in the greater Charleston area.
BTC launched their Empowerment through Employment Program (ETE) in April of 2022. ETE is a highly individualized program that empowers individuals with disabilities by supporting them with self-identifying goals in job readiness, employment skills, and life skills. Be the Change Charleston currently provides support to 22 individuals and is currently fundraising to maintain their programs.
